Chief Adviser rushes to hospital to pay last respects to Hassan Arif

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus rushed to Labaid Hospital in Dhanmondi from the airport to pay last respects to Adviser Hassan Ariff.
The Chief Adviser learnt the news of adviser Hassan Ariff's death as soon as a plane carrying him from Dubai landed in Dhaka on Friday afternoon.
The Chief Adviser has also expressed deep shock at the death of Adviser Hassan Ariff.
“I am deeply shocked at his sudden demise. Adviser Hassan Ariff was a top lawyer who played a very significant role in the interim government," Prof Yunus said in a condolence message.
He sent his condolences to the members of the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
The adviser died of a massive heart attack in the capital at 3:10 pm on Friday (December 20).
“My father was feeling sick and suddenly collapsed on the floor. We took him immediately to LabAid Hospital where doctors declared him dead,” his son Moaz Arif said.
Following an unceremonious step-down of the Awami League government on 5 August, Ariff took oath as an adviser of the interim government led by Prof Muhammad Yunus on 8 August.
Hasan Arif was initially given the responsibility of adviser to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives and the Ministry of Land. He was later given the responsibility of the Ministry of Land and Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.
