Travel ban imposed on Shahriar Alam, family members

A court in Dhaka has imposed a travel ban on the former state minister for foreign affairs Md Shahriar Alam, his wife Silvia Pervin, and two sons Sadman Shahriar, Ahnaf Shahriar.
Acting Judge of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court Md Ibrahim Miah passed the order on Monday (December 23).
Earlier the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) deputy director Md Salahuddin filed a petition seeking the ban.
According to the petition, Shahriar Alam and other accused amassed wealth through corruption. ACC formed a three-member probe committed in this regard. The watchdog learned the accused are trying to flee the country to evade justice.
Earlier on September 9, Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) asked banks to freeze the bank accounts belonging to the chairman of S Alam Group, Mohammad Saiful Alam, and his family members.
