Secretariat without power for 9hrs, administrative activities disrupted

Electricity has been disconnected in several buildings in the Bangladesh Secretariat following Wednesday’s massive fire, causing significant disruption to office activities.
The buildings in the Secretariat remained without electricity for about nine hours.
As of 1PM on Thursday (December 26), there was no electricity connection in any building except building No 4 of the Secretariat. The offices were not opened. Many offices are still locked.
The officials concerned said that they could not enter any room even though they were given the opportunity to enter inside. The entire Secretariat has gone out of electricity. Although generators are running in some places, there is no power in most places.
After 10 hours of frantic efforts of the firemen, the fire at building No 7 of the Secretariat has been extinguished completely.
Fire Service and Civil Defence brought the blaze, which originated around 1:52AM at the building no 7, under their control at about 8:05AM. But the firemen were able to extinguish the fire completely at 11:45AM.
