Police trying to rebuild image: IGP

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam said, “The police do not have magic to control crimes across the country. They are trying to rebuild their image. The police are trying to mitigate crimes like robbery and murder.”

He made these remarks at the annual general meeting of the Bangladesh Retired Police Officers Welfare Association at Rajarbagh in the capital on Saturday (December 28) afternoon.

The IGP said, “After August 5, the police were in a completely friable state. From there, efforts are being made to completely reorganize the police under the incumbent interim government. The police were also mentally jeopardized. From there they have returned to normal life and started working to protect the lives and property of the people. In that case, it may take some time.”

“The police are constantly trying to ensure that various crimes including theft, robbery, murder do not occur in any way. Everything may come under control, but it will take some time. Along with the police, the people must extend its cooperation in controlling the law and order situation,” he said.
