Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Asif Nazrul has said that ‘July genocide’ verdicts will be completed before next the Victory Day’.
The adviser made the comment at a national dialogue titled ‘Unity, Reform and Election’ organised by the Forum for Bangladesh Studies at the Krishibid Institution of Bangladesh auditorium at Farmgate on Saturday afternoon.
Mentioning the three main responsibilities of the government, the legal adviser said, “They are justice, reform, and elections. Basically, the responsibility of our ministry is justice. We are determined to do this.”
Claiming that at least four crimes against humanity were committed during the Awami League’s tenure, he said, “July-August massacre, BDR massacre, Shapla Chattar massacre and serial disappearances and extrajudicial killings. We will try to continue trial as long as we are in charge.”
The adviser called upon all to criticize the government but with love saying, “We have nothing without the love and respect of mass people. Our request to the people is that ‘do criticize our works with love’. We are ready to accept all the positive criticism”.
“We were given the charge in such a situation when the whole administrative system was collapsed. That’s why we are having a hard time that no one faced ever-before in this country,” he added.
