It was seen that journalists were waiting at the Secretariat gates from the morning to enter. Even after 2 pm, journalists did not get permission to enter.
The Ministry of Home Affairs cancelled the accreditation cards of journalists entering the Secretariat on the night of December 26 after a massive fire broke out in Building No. 7 of the Secretariat.
In a meeting with the leaders of the Bangladesh Secretariat Reporters Forum (BSRF) on the afternoon of December 29, Home Affairs Adviser (retired) Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury assured that journalists will be able to enter the Secretariat with temporary passes from Monday.
Information Adviser Nahid Islam also gave the same information. In view of this, the Ministry of Home Affairs was also given a list of journalists for temporary passes.
However, the journalists were not able to enter the Secretariat. In this regard, the law enforcement officers on duty at the main gate of the Secretariat said, “Initially, a list of journalists was given at the gate, but it was later withdrawn."
