DMTCL’s call not to fly sky lanterns near MRT lines 

Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd (DMTCL) has requested people not to fly sky lanterns near the MRT lines during the celebration of the New Year.   

In a circular, the DMTCL on Monday said the metro rail authorities would take legal actions if such an incident takes place during the New Year celebration.

According to the circular, the metro rail runs using high-voltage electricity from Uttara to Motijheel.

Claiming that around 3.5 lakh people use the service daily, the DMTCL authority stated that sky lanterns or similar objects falling on the power lines during celebrations could cause serious or even fatal accidents.
