"Additional 3,000 police deployed on the occasion of 31st"

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md Sajjat Ali has said security measures have been tightened on the occasion of the 31st night and the new year. An additional 3,000 police have been deployed in the capital.
The DMP commissioner said this while addressing a press briefing at the DMP media center on Tuesday morning (December 31).
He said that detectives in plain clothes will be on duty alongside uniformed police at key points and intersections in the capital.
Besides, the DMP issued some directions centering the 31st night and New Year celebration.
The guidelines are as follows:
* No gatherings, assemblies, or celebrations will be allowed on roads, flyovers, rooftops, or public spaces.
* Open-air events, cultural programs, music, or dances to celebrate the New Year are prohibited. Fireworks, crackers, and lanterns are strictly forbidden.
* All licensed bars and liquor stores must remain closed from 6 pm on December 31 to 6pm on January 1.
* Residential hotels can hold events on a limited scale under their own management.
* All types of licensed firearms will not be allowed to be carried in various residential hotels, restaurants, public gatherings and festival venues in Dhaka city until 5 am on January 1.
* Teachers, students, officials and employees living in the Dhaka University area will return to their respective areas by 8 pm on December 31 and will have to show their identity cards to the police members on duty if they enter after 8 pm.
