‘2025 will be year of trials for Hasina, AL’

2025 will be the year of trials for former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the Awami League’s crimes against humanity, said Muhammad Tajul Islam, Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT).

The chief prosecutor made the remark while exchanging greetings with the journalists on the first day of the New Year at ICT on Wednesday (January 1).

Tajul Islam said, “2025 will be the year of trials for former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the Awami League’s crimes against humanity. Trial of all the crimes committed against humanity, genocides, and oppressions that took place in the country in the last 16 years will be completed this year.”

He said, “Judicial proceedings will begin once the chief justice gives consent. The judicial process is moving forward to address all the crimes committed by the previous Awami League government. The investigation into crimes against humanity committed in July-August of 2024 is ongoing.”

“A state decision has been made to bring Sheikh Hasina back. The tribunal will proceed with the judicial process,” he added.
