Shab-e-Meraj to be observed January 27

The holy Shab-e-Meraj will be observed in the country on the night of January 27 with due religious fervour.

The moon of the holy month of Rajab was sighted in the sky of the country on Wednesday. 

As a result, the counting of the holy month of Rajab will start from Thursday (January 2) and the holy Shab-e-Meraj will be observed on the night of January 27 (Monday). 

This decision was taken at the meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee at the Islamic Foundation Baitul Mukarram meeting room on Wednesday (January 1) evening. 

It was presided over by Religious Affairs Adviser Dr. A. F. M. Khalid Hossain.

On 27th of Arabic month of Rajab every year, the Muslims observe the Shab-e-Meraj, the night when Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) embarked on a special journey to meet Allah.

In the journey, the Prophet travelled on the ‘Buraq’ to Heaven where Allah gave him some instructions to take back to the faithful regarding the details of prayers.
