A total of 227 candidates, who were temporarily nominated by the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) in the 43rd BCS examination, have been excluded based on intelligence reports.
A total of 40 candidates have also been excluded due to their absence from the mandatory health examination.
The Ministry of Public Administration has clarified the exclusion of the candidates through a press release issued on Thursday (January 2).
According to the press release signed by Senior Assistant Secretary PSC had recommended 2,163 candidates on 25 January 2024 for recruitment to various cadres.
The recommendations followed preliminary character verification by the Special Branch of Bangladesh Police and district commissioners, the press release said.
According to reports from NSI and DGFI, 227 candidates received adverse comments during the pre-character verification phase and were deemed temporarily unfit for appointment, said the ministry.
To ensure the integrity of the recruitment process, the government ordered a more comprehensive character verification of all 2,163 recommended candidates.
The final recruitment notification, issued on December 30, 2024, confirmed the appointment of 1,896 candidates.
The excluded candidates protested outside the Secretariat, demanding an explanation for their removal from the final list.
According to the press release, the government will reevaluate candidature of 227 if they apply.
