Arrest warrant issued against Sheikh Hasina, 10 others

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has issued warrants against the ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 10 others, over enforced disappearance during the 15-year rule of the Awami League.
A two-member bench, led by its Chairman Justice Golam Mortuza Mazumder passed the order on Monday (January 6).
The other accused in the case include – former defence advisor, retired Major General Tariq Ahmed Siddique, and former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Benazir Ahmed.
During the hearing, Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam said that the Awami League introduced a culture of enforced disappearances with state sponsorship. Those who carried out disappearances were rewarded. RAB, DB, CTTC, DGFI were the most involved in disappearances.
