The next parliamentary election will be held by December this year if the major political parties do not want more reforms in various sectors.

Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said this while addressing a programme at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh in Dhaka on Tuesday.

He said, “If the political parties feel the interim government should carry out some reforms, then the government will take another six months for holding the polls”, he said.

The press secretary further said, “Six commissions formed in different sectors of the state will submit their reports by January 15. The next decision will be taken after reviewing this report and discussing it with everyone.”

Shafiqul Alam said, “Persons involved incorruption or the July-August massacre have no right to be in politics.”

He also said that the government is not thinking about the minus-two formula. At this time, he expressed hope that it would be possible to organize fair and participatory elections by discussing with all parties.
