Huge crowds bid farewell to Khaleda Zia

Huge crowds bid farewell to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on her way towards Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to fly to London for medical treatment on Tuesday night.

The chairperson left her Gulshan residence at 8:15pm and headed towards the airport.

BNP leaders and activists started gathering in front of her Gulshan residence Firoza since the afternoon.

They kept chanting slogans in the names of Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman.

From Gulshan to airport, thousands of leaders and activists of BNP and affiliated organisations and common people were standing on both sides of the road, chanting various slogans and bidding farewell to Khaleda. 

Khaleda Zia was scheduled to leave Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 10pm for London for medical treatment via a special air ambulance sent by the Emir of Qatar. 

She accompanied by her entourage, including six doctors from her medical team.

Khaleda Zia will meet her eldest son Tarique Rahman in London after almost seven and a half years. BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and his wife Dr Zubaida Rahman will receive her at the London airport. London BNP leaders and activities will also be there.

However, instead of going to Tarique Rahman's residence first, Khaleda Zia will be taken to a clinic in London directly from Heathrow Airport.

The special air ambulance was sent by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, landed on the VIP tarmac at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around on Monday evening to transport BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to London.
