Qamrul, Palak, 3 others shown arrested in new cases

Former food minister Qamrul Islam, ex-state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, and three others have been shown arrested in separate cases filed with different police stations in the capital in relation to events during the Anti-discrimination Student Movement.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ziadur Rahman issued the order on Wednesday (January 8) after hearing a petition.

The other accused are - former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, Juba League leader Nazrul Islam Kabiraz and Abul Hossain.

Earlier, the accused were produced before the court and petitioned to show them arrested in the cases.

Qamrul Islam, Abul Hossai,n and Nazrul Islam Kabiraj were shown arrested in a case filed at the Lalbagh Police Station. Former IGP Mamun was shown arrested in a murder case filed with Vasantek Police Station, while Palak was shown arrested in a case filed under the Cyber Security Act with Kafrul Police Station.
