Police-student clash at Secretariat gate:  DMP forms probe body 

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has formed a three-member committee to investigate the incident of chase and counter-chase between students of a private university and police at the gate of the Secretariat.

An office order signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali was issued on Tuesday afternoon.

DMP Joint Commissioner (Crime) Md. Faruk Hossain has been made head of the committee.

The committee has been given five working days to submit a detailed report of the matter. The body can co-opt any officer as a member if necessary.

On Tuesday (January 7), more than a hundred students of Prime Asia University clashed with police in front of Gate No. 1 of the Bangladesh Secretariat. During this, the police fired two rounds of blank fire. However, it is not yet known demands of the students.
