India has extended the visa of deposed Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who has been in the country since last August.
About the matter, Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain has said, “Bangladesh has nothing to do in this regard. I also learned about it through media. What can we do about it?”
On 23 December, Dhaka sent a diplomatic letter to New Delhi seeking Sheikh Hasina’s return from India to Bangladesh on allegations of crimes against humanity.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh government has cancelled passports of 97 individuals including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Among them, passports of 22 more individuals have been cancelled on charge of their involvement in enforced disappearances and killings and 75 individuals on charge of their involvement in July-August genocide, said Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary Azad Mazumder.
