Students block city`s Bakshibazar road, army deployed

Students of Government Madrasa-e-Alia have blocked Bashibazar road to remove makeshift court from the madrasa ground in Bakshi Bazar on Thursday (January 9).

To tackle the situation, additional police forces and army personnel were deployed in the area.

Students claimed that educational activities face disruption during the trial process of the court. Despite several complaints to the ministry, the issue has not been resolved.

The students from Alia Madrasa started to take position in the field from Wednesday night (January 8). They blocked Dhaka Medical College Hospital intersection, Old Dhaka central jail road, Bakshi Bazar Orphanage Road. Later, army, police were deployed in the area.

Wasim, a student of Ali Madrasa said that the award-giving ceremony of a three-day-long cultural program was today. The VC of Islamic University was scheduled to attend the award-giving ceremony. A pandal was also prepared. However, last night, we learned that a court would be set up here. We will not allow the court here.
