July Proclamation not possible by January 15: Mahfuj

Adviser Mahful Alam has said that it is not possible to make July Proclamation by January 15 this year. But, the announcement will not be too late.

“We will discuss with everyone who played an active role in the mass uprising. The government will make the declaration based on everyone's consensus”, he said.

The adviser said this at a press briefing at Foreign Service Academy on Thursday.

“The government will hold talks with all political parties next week over the July proclamation...we want to make it an inclusive and unified document,” he said.

Adviser Mahfuj Alam said the government thinks if the declaration is made on part of the students without reaching a wider consensus, the current unity and stability of the country may be hampered. 

“The reform work will really start after getting the reports of the reform commissions. Everyone needs to reach a consensus. If we can reach a consensus, a solution will come”, he said.
