Shahinul Islam made head of BFIU

AFM Shahinul Islam, former executive director of the Bangladesh Bank, has been appointed as the head of Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU).

The financial institution division of the finance ministry issued a notice in this regard on Thursday (January 9).

According to the circular, he has been appointed as the chief officer of the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) on a contractual basis, with the rank of deputy governor. The appointment is contingent upon his severing ties with any other institutions or organisations.

AFM Shahinul Islam received a BSc (Hons) and MSc degree in Statistics from Dhaka University. He started his career after joining Bangladesh Bank as an Assistant Director in 1993. He was promoted to Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank on 2 March 2022.
