Foreign Ministry summons Indian high commissioner

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Pranay Verma to discuss recent border-related issues.

The Indian High Commissioner was seen entering the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building this noon (January 12).

After the meeting with the foreign secretary in the ministry, the Indian high commissioner told reporters that there was a discussion on stopping smuggling and human trafficking at the border. At the same time, we have reached an understanding on building a fence at the border for security.

Recently, the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) attempted to setup a barbed wire fence at the Chauka border in Chapainawabganj, violating international law. Later, India stopped the construction task due to the protests of the BGB and locals.
