Dismissed SIs stage sit-in before secretariat again

Dismissed trainee sub-inspectors (SIs) of the 40th (cadet) SI batch of Bangladesh Police staged a sit-in programme in front of the secretariat again demanding reinstatement of their jobs.

Holding different placards at their hands, the protesters have taken position in front of Osmani Udyan, opposite to secretariat gate no 1 since 10 am on Monday (January 13).

Regarding the sit-in programme, Monirul Islam, one of the dismissed SIs, said, “We don’t know what’s wrong with us. We want a solution to this. We have communicated with the IGP and the Home Ministry regarding reinstatement of our jobs, but we didn’t get any solution.”

Earlier, a total of 321 trainees were dismissed in phases, accusing them of breaching discipline during their training period just one month before graduation.
