Dismissed SIs stage sit-in at Osmani Udyan

Dismissed trainee sub-inspectors (SIs) of the 40th (cadet) SI batch of Bangladesh Police are observing a sit-in programme demanding reinstatement of their jobs.

Holding different placards at their hands, the protesters have taken position at Osmani Udyan, opposite to secretariat gate no 1 till filing this report on Monday (January 13).

Regarding the sit-in programme, Raihan Hossain, one of the dismissed SIs, said, “We don’t know what’s wrong with us. We want a solution to this. We have communicated with the IGP and the Home Ministry regarding reinstatement of our jobs, but we didn’t get any solution.”

We will continue the protest until our demand is met, he added.

Earlier, a total of 321 trainees were dismissed in phases, accusing them of breaching discipline during their training period just one month before graduation.
