Travel ban imposed on ex-MP Abdullah Al Jakob, families

A Dhaka court here imposed travel ban on Abdullah Al Jakob, a former member of parliament (MP) of the Bhola-4 constituency, and his families over graft allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order on Tuesday (January 14), allowing a plea filed by SM Rashedur Reza, deputy director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Prosecutor Mahmud Hossain Jahangir stood for the ACC during the hearing.

The anti-graft body in its plea said the former lawmaker and his family members allegedly amassed huge illegal wealth in his and his family members’ names through various irregularities and corruptions. They are also allegedly involved in money laundering.

The ACC said the accused may try to flee the country and a ban should be imposed against them to make them to face justice.
