Grandson of Nat’l Poet Babul Kazi dies

National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam's grandson Babul Kazi, has died at the age of 59.

He breathed his last at the ICU of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (NIBPS) around 5:30pm on Sunday (January 19).

Dr Shawon Bin Rahman, a resident physician at the NIBPS Emergency Department confirmed the matter.

Earlier on Saturday morning, he went to light a cigarette with a lighter in the bathroom when an explosion occurred immediately at his residence in the capital’s Banani. Later, he was rushed to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
