Staff Correspondent || risingbd.com
The High Court (HC) has ruled that trees cannot be cut down without permission. Permission must be taken from a specific authority before cutting down trees.
A High Court bench of Justice Fahmida Quader and Justice Mubina Asaf delivered the verdict on Tuesday (January 28), declaring the rule issued in this regard as ‘appropriate’.
The HC ordered the Department of Environment to form a committee comprising environmentalists, environmental experts, and professors from the Department of Environmental Science of Dhaka and Jahangirnagar Universities within seven days to secure permission for cutting down trees.
