Travel ban imposed on Hasina’s ex-PA Jahangir

A Dhaka court has imposed travel ban on Sheikh Hasina’s ex-PA Jahangir Alam and his wife Kamrun Nahar in a corruption case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order on Thursday (January 30), allowing a plea of ACC.
The ACC in its application mentioned that former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s former personal assistant Md. Jahangir Alam has acquired assets worth Tk 18, 29, 10, 882 beyond his known income source.
Jahangir has been charged under the ACC Act for committing a punishable offense by depositing or crediting a total of Tk 626, 65, 18, 107 in 23 accounts of 8 bank accounts with the intention of enjoying the illegally acquired money in the name of various organizations owned by him, and withdrawing or transferring the deposited money through various means.
Earlier, the ACC filed a case against Jahangir Alam and his wife Kamrun Nahar on December 17 on charge of acquiring assets beyond known income.
