World Cancer Day today

World Cancer Day is today. The day is celebrated every year on February 4th through various programs around the world.

The purpose of celebrating the day is to spread awareness about this deadly and life-threatening cancer and to encourage people to help the affected patients.

The day was first observed in 2000. The effort began at the “World Summit Against Cancer” in Paris, France. The theme for this year's World Cancer Day is "Close the Care Gap."

Cancer has become the second leading disease that causes death globally. An estimate provided by the World Health Organisation (WHO) shows the death of 9.6 million individuals in the year 2018.
