Justice Md Abdur Rouf
Former Chief Election Commissioner Justice Md Abdur Rouf passed away at a private hospital in the capital on Sunday (February 9) morning.
He was 91.
Abdur Rouf, the former Appellate Division judge, breathed his last around 10 am while undergoing treatment at Insaf Barakah Kidney Hospital at Moghbazar in the capital.
Confirming the death, his personal assistant Md Tawhid said, “He had been seriously ill for the past two months and receiving treatment at the hospital. But he died this morning.”
“After completing necessary formalities in Dhaka, he will be laid to rest at his ancestral home in Mymensingh as per his family decision,” he added.
Abdur Rouf performed his duty as the country’s fifth chief election commissioner from December 25, 1990, to April 18, 1995.
