Mahmudur Rahman acquitted

A Dhaka court has acquitted Daily Amar Desh Editor Mahmudur Rahman in a case filed over a plot to abduct and kill former prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy.

Dhaka’s fourth additional metropolitan session judge Tariq Ejaz passed the order on Monday (February 10).

Meanwhile, Mahmudur Rahman was present in the court as the verdict was announced.

Mahmudur Rahman told reporters, “The court served the justice. I got justice.”

Earlier, the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Nur on August 17, 2023, convicted and sentenced five people including veteran journalist Shafik Rehman and Mahmudur Rahman to seven years imprisonment.
