A Dhaka court has placed ex-prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s former private investment adviser Salman F Rahman, ex-law minister Anisul Huq, former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, and Trinamool BNP’s former president Shamser Mobin Chowdhury on a four-day remand each in a murder case filed during the student-led July-August mass uprising.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiak passed the orders on Monday (February 10) morning as police produced the accused before the court and pleaded to place them on a 10-day remand each in the murder case.
The defendants’ lawyer prayed for bail but the court rejected it.
According to the case statements, Md Pervej Miah joined a rally of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on August 5 in the Jatrabari area. He got shot in the afternoon and succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on the same day.
Later, the victim’s mother Kaneej Fatema filed a case with the Jatrabari police station on October 29 against the four accused.
