The trial of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has begun at the International Crimes Tribunal for crimes against humanity.

The Foreign Ministry has provided the necessary information and documents along with diplomatic papers to bring Sheikh Hasina back to Bangladesh as per the extradition agreement. 

Md. Rafiqul Alam, director general of the Public Diplomacy Division and spokesperson of the ministry, gave this information at a briefing at the Foreign Ministry on Thursday (February 13) afternoon.

Asked how long the Bangladesh government will wait for an answer, the spokesperson said, “We have not received any answer yet. But, we expect an answer. It is a political decision or a diplomatic matter one”.

Earlier while addressing a press conference recently, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Asif Nazrul said that the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) will deliver its judgment against defeated autocrat Sheikh Hasina and top leaders of the ousted Awami League for their involvement in the July genocide cases by October this year.
