Tavel ban imposed on ex-social welfare minister, wife

A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on former Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed and his wife Hosne Ara Begum over graft allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order on Thursday.

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Deputy Assistant Director Zakir Hossain filed the plea.

The ACC on February 3 filed three cases against the couple and their son Md Rakibuzzaman under section 27 (1) of the Anti Corruption Commission Act, 2004, sections 4 (2) and 4 (3) of the Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2012, section 5 (2) of The Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947, and section 109 of the Penal Code.

The ACC in its plea said travel embargo should be imposed on them till the completion of probe of the cases.
