Ex-MP Fazle Karim sent to jail in genocide case

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has granted an application to show former Awami League lawmaker from Chattogram-6 ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury arrested in July-August genocide case.
The three-member tribunal led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder passed the order on Sunday (February 16), allowing the prosecution’s plea.
The court then ordered police to send the former lawmaker back to jail.
“He is accused of abetting, inciting and participating in the attacks on students and people along with other leaders and cadres of Awami League in Chattogram on July 16. According to the eyewitnesses, he also supplied arms to the attackers. Three people Wasim Akram, Faruk and Foysal Ahmed Shanto were martyred in the attacks in the Muradpur Mor area under Panchlaish thana,” said prosecutor Abdullah Al Noman.
Prosecutors BM Sultan Mahmud, Gazi MH Tamim, Moinul Karim, Tarek Abdullah and Saimum Reza were present in the courtroom during the hearing.
