Appellate Division orders to back jobs to deprived 1137 candidates

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has ordered to back jobs to the 1137 deprived candidates of the 27th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS).

A five-strong Appellate Division bench, headed by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed passed the order on Thursday (February 20).

Senior lawyer Barrister Salahuddin Dolon moved for the petitioners while Attorney General Barrister Anik R Haque stood for the state.

Earlier, as many as 3,567 candidates passed the first oral examination of the 27th BCS. In 2007, the caretaker government annulled the results of the first oral test over charges of irregularities and corruption and arranged the second viva voce.

Later, the successful candidates filed a writ petition challenging the validity of the cancellation of the first oral test’s results.
