22 deputy commissioners (DCs) have been sent into forced retirement for their alleged roles in the controversial elections held under the previous Awami League government.
The Public Administration Ministry’s Senior Secretary Mokhles-ur-Rahman disclosed the latest move against the DCs while briefing reporters at the Secretariat on Thursday (February 20).
The officers serving less than 25 years in government offices have been made OSDs, while those serving longer will be forced to retire, the senior secretary told reporters.
The move comes a day after the government made 33 other DCs officers on special duty (OSD) over similar allegations.
The 22 DCs served as returning officers during the 2014, 2018 and 2024 general elections.
