Two secretaries sent into forced retirement

Two secretaries have been sent into forced retirement for their alleged roles during the previous Awami League government and taking a stand  against the July Uprising.

They are Disaster Management and Relief Ministry Secretary Md. Kamrul Hasan and Industries Ministry’s Senior Secretary Zakia Sultana.

The Public Administration Ministry issued a circular in this regard on Thursday (February 20).

Kamrul Hasan served as the Deputy Commissioner (DC) during the Awami League government. He was the DC of Moulvibazar.

The interim government is sending DCs into forced retirement and are making OSDs, who played roles in the controversial elections held under the previous Awami League government.

The officers serving less than 25 years in government offices are being made OSDs, while those serving longer are being forced to retire. 

The DCs served as returning officers during the 2014, 2018 and 2024 general elections.
