Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed has asked the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to monitor the markets to ensure smooth supply chain of commodities during the upcoming holy Month of Ramadan so that the consumers need not to suffer.
The Finance Adviser said this while replying to queries of reporters after chairing two separate meetings on the Advisers Council Committees on Economic Affairs and Government Purchase held at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat on Thursday.
“We had directed them so that there is no manipulation by the wholesalers and retailers,” he said adding that it is often seen that despite having enough supply of commodities, those sometimes don’t reach to common people smoothly due to the illegal hoarding by the vested quarter. “We won’t tolerate such things,” he said.
Asked about the current food situation, Dr Salehuddin said the food availability and price situation is now not bad.
