Appeal hearing against Khaleda Zia’s acquittal order on Mar 2

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court fixed March 2 for hearing appeals filed by the state and the Anti-Corruption Commission challenging the High Court verdict that acquitted BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia from Zia Charitable Trust corruption case.

An Appellate Division bench, led by Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam, passed the order on Sunday (February 23).

On November 27 last year, the HC acquitted Khaleda in Zia Charitable Trust graft case in which she was sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment by a lower court.
