Jamaat leader Azharul`s review petition today

The review hearing on the petition filed by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami leader ATM Azharul Islam is in today's Cause List of the appellate division of Bangladesh Supreme Court.

The hearing will be held at the court of the appellate division led by Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed.

Earlier, on February 20, the Supreme Court (SC) fixed Tuesday for hearing the review, challenging the judgment that upheld Jamaat-e-Islami leader ATM Azharul Islam’s death sentence in a war crimes case.

The ICT-1 on December 30, 2014, sentenced Azhar to death for his crimes against humanity in Rangpur during the War of Liberation. The tribunal in its judgment said it found him guilty in five of the total six charges it had framed against him.

Azharul Islam filed the appeal against his conviction on January 28, 2015.
