A Dhaka court imposed a travel ban on former Narayanganj-4 lawmaker Shamim Osman, his wife Salma Osman, son Imtinan Osman and daughter Labiba Zoha, over graft allegations.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order on Tuesday (February 25), allowing a petition filed by Rezaul Karim, deputy director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The ACC in its plea said it is investigating allegations against the former lawmaker and his family members of amassing illegal wealth, buying houses in Canada and the US, running businesses in Dubai with the money amassed through tender manipulation, rampant extortion, taking commissions from the transport owners, selling party posts and embezzling government funds.
“The accused are trying to flee the country to evade justice and a travel ban should be imposed on them for the sake of proper investigation,” the ACC plea added.
