Travel ban imposed on Enayetullah, family members

A Dhaka court imposed a travel ban on Khandaker Enayetullah, former secretary general of Bangladesh Transport Owners Association (BTOA), his wife Nargis Samsad, son Ridwanul Ashik Niloy and daughter Chashme Jahan Nishi, over graft allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order on Wednesday (February 26), allowing a petition filed by Khorshed Alam, assistant director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The anti-graft body in its plea said it is probing allegations of extorting Tk 1.65 crore daily from buses plying on different routes from the capital.

The ACC, during its probe, found information on huge illegal wealth in the names of Enayetullah, his wife, son and daughter, and they are trying to hand over the properties.

“They are trying to flee the country to evade justice and a travel ban should be imposed on them for the sake of proper investigation,” the plea added.
