Bangabandhu Bridge, Karnaphuli Tunnel renamed

The government has renamed the Bangabandhu Bridge and the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel as Jamuna Bridge and Karnaphuli Tunnel respectively.

The Bridges Division of Bangladesh Road Transport and Bridges Ministry issued a notification in this regard on Wednesday.

Joint Secretary Md Tobibur Rahman confirmed the matter to newsmen.

The 4.8km Jamuna Multi-Purpose Bridge over the Jamuna River was inaugurated in June, 1998.
On the other hand, the Karnaphuli Tunnel was inaugurated on 28 October 2023.
