EC ready to hold election in December 

Election Commissioner Anwarul Islam has said the Election Commission (EC) is taking preparations and we are ready to hold the national election in December. 

He was speaking at a views exchange meeting on voter list updates in Munshiganj on Wednesday (February 26).

The Chief Adviser has indicated that the election could be held in December with minor reforms or in June with major reforms. However, the commission is currently focusing on a December timeline, he said.  

Local elections require about a year of preparation, making it challenging to hold a national election simultaneously. However, the EC is actively making preparations for December, he added.  

Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner Fatematul Jannat, Superintendent of Police Shamsul Alam Sarkar and others relevant officials attended the meeting.
