1 crore families to get 10 kg of rice for free

Adviser to the Food and Land Ministries Ali Imam Majumdar said that under the food-friendly programme, the interim government will provide 30 kg of rice, costing TK 15 per kg, to 50 lakh families in March and April.

Additionally, as a gift from the interim government, 10 kg of rice will be provided free of cost to one crore low-income families on the occasion of Eid, he said.

He disclosed the information at a view-exchanging meeting on OMS and food-friendly programme at the Dhaka Divisional Commissioner’s office on Thursday (February 27).

The Adviser directed all the Deputy Commissioners under Dhaka Division to closely monitor the proper distribution of rice allocated for the low-income people during the holy month of Ramadan.

The Deputy Commissioners informed the Adviser about the problems they face at the local level during the distribution of rice through the food-friendly programme and OMS.

The Adviser provided immediate solutions to some of the problems and assured to resolve the remaining problems soon.
