Who died in uprising to be called as ‘July Martyrs’

People who died during the July uprising will be called as ‘July Martyrs’ while the injured victims will be known as ‘July Fighters.

The decision was taken at a meeting held at the office of the Chief Advisor on February 9 and 24. 

This was announced in a press release sent by the office of the Chief Adviser on Thursday (February 28). 

It was informed that a list of 834 July martyrs has been published in the gazette. The families of July martyrs will receive a one-time grant of Tk 30 lakh. Out of this, they will receive Tk 10 lakh through the national savings certificate in the 2024-2025 fiscal and Tk 20 lakh through the national savings certificate in July, 2025 of the 2025-2026 fiscal. 

The families of martyrs will be given an allowance of Tk 20,000 per month. Members of the martyrs' families will get priority in government and semi-government jobs.

Injured persons will get benefits according to three medical categories namely Category A, Category B and Category C.

Category A. (Very seriously injured): A total of 493 have been included in Category A (very seriously injured). Those who are unable to live without the help of others due to physical disability even after treatment.

Category A will receive financial assistance and other benefits in the following manner - they will be given a one-time grant of 5 lakh taka. In the 2024-2025 fiscal year, 2 lakh taka will be given in cash (through bank check). 

In the 2025-2026 fiscal year, 3 lakh taka will be given in cash (through bank check). They will be given a monthly allowance of 20 thousand taka. They will receive lifelong medical facilities in various government hospitals. 

In addition, they will receive medical services in domestic and foreign hospitals on the recommendation of the appropriate medical boards. They will receive necessary training and rehabilitation facilities. They will receive identity cards and will receive various government benefits by showing their cards.
