8 burnt in explosion from gas leak in N’ganj

Eight people sustained severe burns in a gas explosion caused by a leakage in Narayanganj’s Chashara area early Monday (March 3).

The victims are – Sohag, 23, Rupali, 20, Samia, 10, Jannat, 4, Hannan, 50, Sabbir, 12, Sumaiya, 1.5, and Nurjahan, 35.

The incident took place around 3:30am.

Dr Shawon Bin Rahman, a resident doctor at the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute, confirmed the matter.

"The eight people were brought to the emergency unit of the hospital around 4:30am. Most of them have sustained major burns," said the doctor.
