I won’t do politics until death: Kamal Ahmed Majumder tells court

Former State Minister for Industries and former member of parliament for Dhaka-15 constituency Kamal Ahmed Majumder has told the court that he would no longer do politics until his death.
He made the announcement while seeking justice from the judge in the courtroom on Monday (March 3) morning.
Earlier around 10:00 am, Kamal Majumder was produced before Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Partha Bhadra to have him shown arrested in a murder case filed at Kafrul Police Station.
After being produced before the courtroom, Kamal Majumder in a tearful voice told the court that: “I am 76 years old, affected with diabetic, and 70% of my vision is impaired. The prison authorities are not providing me with a digital Quran, diabetes medication, or a blood sugar measuring device. I have no information about my family and am not allowed to meet them.”
He stated, “I appeal to you (the judge) for justice. I am being tortured with case after case. I should be spending time with my grandchildren, but instead, I am being tortured in jail. I have no option but to call upon Allah.”
“I will never engage in politics with the Awami League again. I have resigned from the Awami League’s general membership. I hold no party position. At the age of 76, it is not possible to do politics. We want new leadership to emerge,” he further said.
Following his statement, he wasa taken to the CMM Court’s lockup.
Kamal Majumder was arrested from a house in Gulshan, Dhaka, around 12:30 am on October 19. Since then, he has been shown arrested in several murder and attempted murder cases.
