Former justice AHM Manik placed on remand

A Dhaka court placed former Justice AHM Shamsuddin Choudhury Manik on a two-day remand in a case filed over a murder during the July-August uprising.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Monirul Islam passed the order on Wednesday (March 5).
Earlier, Anti-Terrorism Unit’s Inspector Aminul Islam produced accused before the court seeking seven days of remand.
Dhaka Metropolitan Public Prosecutor Omar Faruk Faruki stood for the state during the hearing.
According to the case statement, During the anti-discrimination movement, student Md. Abu Zar Sheikh was shot in the Pragati Sarani area in Gulshan police station on July 19 last year. Later he died on July 27 while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the capital.
Following the incident, the victim’s mother filed a murder case with Gulshan police station on November 16.
