A Dhaka court ordered to freeze 39 bank accounts with Tk 5.26 crore of former land minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury (Javed) over graft allegations.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order on Wednesday (March 5), allowing a plea filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The anti-graft body in its plea said the ACC has already formed a team to investigate allegations of money laundering against the former minister. During their investigation, it was learned that the accused may try to hand over his movable properties and for the sake of justice, his bank accounts should be frozen.
On October 17, 2024, another court ordered to attach the immovable properties owned by Saifuzzaman and his family.
On October 7, the court imposed a travel ban on Saifuzzaman Chowdhury and his wife Rukmila Zaman.
